Set on more than 420 acres, Gwinganna is a growing place, the name was given by the Kombumerri clan of Aborigines who once lived here. Each of the heritage houses is unique and has been brought to Gwinganna piece by piece from various locations, to preserve the original Queenslander style home. Featuring large lounge areas, the bedrooms open onto wide verandahs shaded by gardens and trees which shelter a range of birds and wildlife. Superb organic cuisine, an incredible selection of activities, nurturing massage, ocean and valley views, scenic walks and a casual, relaxed atmosphere all provide pure inspiration. Gwinganna’s organic orchard features over 200 tropical fruits including papaya, lemon, jaboticaba, mango, lychee, olives, pecan and macadamia and nuts so the guests at Gwinganna can enjoy the flavors of freshly picked fruits.
Gwinganna’s organic food garden was started in April 06 and is a work in progress. Tomasz, the organic farmer, welcomes visitors to the garden for a chat and is happy to share his knowledge on how to grow food without the use of synthetic fertilizers and herbicides. Most of the leafy greens are fresh picked by their chef in the morning and afternoon to ensure the freshest of produce to create sensational meals.
